Armand Bakx is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer engaged with information design, interactive/generative design, media and technology. During the third year of his education at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam he has started to seriously develop his interest and fascination for (news-)media, with a focus on how (social) technology has changed the way humans interact with each other and the world around them. Simultaneously he has been active with improving his expertise by developing new techniques to reach an own visual style within the world of motion graphics and graphic design.
The Illustion of Truth
A visual research into the world of news, information and distribution within the digital realm. It focuses on the consequences and dangers that technological developments have created in this radically changing landscape.
Technological development in ways that information is distributed has caused the way we engage with news to change. Digital alternatives offer great possibilities, but also holds incredible danger for easily setting up, spreading and repeating misinformation.
This installation aims to aggressively convey the manner of which this is being done today, and aims at creating a sense for urgency on media-awareness.
